The Guest bathroom at Villa Asimi was a challenge. I wanted something simple with a bit of Old School Glamour. I thought a touch of gold was in order! Not particularly me but maybe a throwback from a previous employer?
The bathroom that we found was extremely tired and in desperate need of some love and updating.
The original room had a dated glass shower divider and a very basic shower installed. The window frame with a rotting yellow shutter attached didn't even have a window installed so we were open to the elements.
There was a basic white suite in place so to save money I kept the plumbing layout and decided to reuse the wc and sink if possible.
The tiles certainly needed a refresh and the beige had to go!
So we started... ripping out everything, replacing the interior door and fitting a new window and shutters.
Rather than replace with a glass screen or fitted shower we installed a dividing wall for the shower to tile on the inside as an enclosure. If you have a big enough bathroom and enough light this is a great and cheaper alternative to a traditional shower enclosure and also very much easier to keep clean.
Freshly plastered and tiles fitted.
The finished bathroom has a fresh, clean feel. Building the shower enclosure means that I got away with just tiling the shower so that the rest of the area feels very much like a 'room'. I sourced brushed gold bathroom lighting and simple gold taps to give a splash of bling but not be too glitzy. Bringing in the wooden detail of the frames and shelving gives a needed warmth and filling these frames with a 'gallery' of images of sophisticated ladies kindly sketched by my ex boss no other that Mr LLB himself!
It looks fabulous Jules xx!
